Who is Dr. Bruno Steiner?

Bruno Steiner, DPT, LMT, RMSK, is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) education, clinical practice, and research. He serves as the Physical Therapy and MSKUS Program Manager at the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders in Seattle, where he integrates point-of-care sonographic imaging into musculoskeletal assessment, joint health monitoring, and rehabilitation planning for orthopedic concerns endemic to the bleeding disorders population of Washington State.

Credentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Sonologist (RMSK), Dr. Steiner specializes in applying MSKUS to enhance differential diagnosis, monitor treatment response, and support evidence-based clinical decision-making.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Steiner is serving his second term as President of the APTA Orthopaedic Imaging Special Interest Group (I-SIG), advocating for the expanded role of physical therapists in diagnostic imaging referral and emphasizing the importance of MSKUS in advancing musculoskeletal care and professional standards. Dr. Steiner is actively involved in clinical research focusing on the application of MSKUS in joint and muscle health. His work aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment outcomes by utilizing this advanced imaging modality.

He also teaches musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging to physical therapy students and clinicians through the University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), building foundational competencies in MSKUS acquisition, interpretation, and clinical integration. Through his multifaceted roles, Dr. Steiner is dedicated to empowering physical therapists with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate MSKUS into modern practice and strengthen patient-centered musculoskeletal care.
